Celebrating BDC 20th Anniversary

The BDC has lined up an array of celebratory events under the banner of “Together•Pressing Ahead• Brand New Horizon”as of the second half of 2024, with an eye to celebrating the Council's 20th anniversary on the one hand, and uplifting the collective image of local brands and promoting the branding achievements of Hong Kong industries on the other.

The Council commissioned Design Consultant Mr Charles Ng to design a “BDC 20th Anniversary Logo”, which has been extensively used as a distinctive visual symbol for relevant activities rolling out in 2025.

The BDC introduced an honorary award named “The BDC 20th Anniversary Special Merit Award” to commend individuals or organisations that have actively promoted the development of Hong Kong brands and enthusiastically supported the work of the BDC. The Award also serves as a token of gratitude to the recipients for their significant contributions.

The Selection Committee, after evaluating nominees mainly based on three criteria, i.e. contributions to Hong Kong brand development, contributions to the development and operations of BDC, and contributions to economic and social development of Hong Kong and our Country, resolved to grant this honorific recognition to Dr the Hon Jose Yu, Mr Paul Yin as well as 4 organisations including, Bank of Communications (Hong Kong), KPMG, Lee Kum Kee, and Centaline Property.

The awards were presented by the Financial Secretary the Hon Paul Chan, and the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development the Hon Algernon Yau at the 2024 Brand Awards Ceremony held on 11 February 2025.

The BDC produced a 5-minute video show themed on “Together • Pressing Ahead • Brand New Horizon”. By featuring interviews with BDC past and current Chairmen and Vice Chairmen, the video brings the audience on a historical excursion to revisit the growth trajectory and achievements of the BDC over the past two decades. The commemorative video premiered at the BDC 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner held on 11 February 2025.

A grand dinner at the Conference Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on February 11, 2025 was the highlight of the BDC’s 20th anniversary celebrations. Held in tandem with the Presentation Ceremony of 2024 Brand Awards, it was officiated by Financial Secretary The Hon Paul Chan and top government officials.

Over 600 distinguished guests joined this “Sumptuous Feast for Hong Kong Brands”, which turned out to be a joyful occasion for sharing the pride and excitement of success, while demonstrating the strength and cohesion of Hong Kong industries.

In collaboration with the Hong Kong Economic Times, the BDC published the “Hong Kong • New Quality Brand Power” Series, which take the form of newspaper and video interviews to document local brand enterprises’ innovative thinking on taking forward “Branding + New Quality Productive Forces” as well as their strategies and practices for strengthening brand competitiveness. The interviews have been released regularly on newspapers and online platforms starting from January 2025, with the content to be subsequently compiled into an e-book of the same title.

The BDC has been organising“Brand In-Sight-Seeing”series to visit best-practice enterprises in Hong Kong and Mainland Cities in the Greater Bay Area, providing the participants a precious opportunity to closely observe and study the successful experiences of outstanding brands.

Led by BDC Chairman Mr Calvin Chan, the first company visit was held on 28 May 2025 with over 20 member company representatives as delegation members. The delegation toured around the “Catalo Natural Health Foods Intelligent Production Center” at Tai Po InnoPark, having an eye-opening experience to learn about the brand's success story of leveraging intelligent production to enhance brand competitiveness.

The“Brand In-Sight-Seeing”series'  second company visit was held on 26 September 2025 (Friday).  The BDC organised a delegation of over 30 people to Shenzhen for a one-day tour.  In the morning, the delegation attended the “Hong Kong.IN.Brand Greater Bay” luncheon seminar co-organised by the BDC, The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Office (GBA Office) and the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong.
